- 10:30 am Worship, Children's Worship
- 11:30 am Fellowship Time
Our regular Sunday morning worship at 10:30 am is warmly traditional, enhanced by the aesthetics of our beautiful Gothic sanctuary. We offer numerous other worship opportunities throughout the year, including for example: seasonal evening services, weekly Wednesday evening worship as part of our Celebrate the Vision program, and healing services occasionally after Sunday worship.
At the heart of our worship, we value meaningful liturgy and strong, exceptional preaching that relates God’s Word of grace to our contemporary lives. We intentionally engage our hearts and minds with issues of society and personal experience. Texts of past sermons are available in our Recent Sermons.
We celebrate two sacraments – baptism and communion – as visible signs of God’s ever-present grace in our lives. There is typically at least one occasion to celebrate communion each month. Baptisms are coordinated by request through conversation with our pastoral staff.
Music is an important part of worship at First Presbyterian Church. Sunday morning worship includes participation of the Adult Choir, occasionally supplemented with instrumental ensembles from the Kalamazoo Symphony or Western Michigan University. Our beautiful 63 rank Casavant organ serves as the primary accompaniment for Sunday morning worship. Our Wednesday evening services and other occasions utilize a wide variety of other instrumental accompaniment and musical styles.
A schedule of worship opportunities can be found in The Presbyter and on the calendar. Please, plan to join us for everything from regularly inspiring Sunday services and engaging Wednesday praise to joy and beauty of Christmas Eve or the solemn Tennebrae Service held on Good Friday.
Our Sunday schedule also includes series of adult education programs [link to adult ministry] offered both before worship at 9:15 a.m. or following worship around 11:45 am, as well as ongoing opportunity for fellowship in our Gathering Place outside the sanctuary.
