The Personnel Committee works in an advisory role to the Head-of-Staff Pastor and the Session and acts as a support team for the pastors and members of the staff.
The goals of the committee are to assist in building an effective and efficient work environment, recommend new and revised policies and practices, develop and revise staff position descriptions, recommend compensation for staff through the budget process, provide equal employment opportunities, support professional growth of staff, recommend strategies to manage risk exposures, and support a review process to assist in staff evaluation and work planning.
Although a background in business, management, or human resources is helpful, it is not a requirement to serve on the Personnel Committee. A desire to support the pastors and staff at First Presbyterian Church is all that is needed.
The Personnel Committee does not require a specific term of commitment. The committee currently meets on the third Monday of the month at 6:00 pm.
