The Jesus and Me Ministry serves as a nursery that provides loving care in a Christian environment for the children of church members and visitors. Having the nursery available allows parents and guardians the opportunity to foster their own spirituality while knowing their child is cared for in a safe, nurturing environment. The Jesus and Me Ministry is an intergenerational project where church members assist children and caregivers to build relationships that strengthen our congregational family.
The nursery is open from 10:10 am – noon, every Sunday during the worship service. It is staffed with the same two adult church volunteers and two student staff, who are on duty every Sunday, thus providing consistent familiar faces for the children each week.
The nursery is also available on an as needed basis for congregational meetings after church, Bible studies scheduled after church, Women's morning Bible study (Thursdays, 9:30 am - 11:00 am), and Celebrate the Vision (Wednesdays, 6:15 pm - 7:45 pm). The nursery is also available to care for teachers' children during Vacation Bible School.
Upon checking in their child, parents complete a child safety label that is placed on the child's back with the child's info and are issued a pager. If a child has not stopped crying within 10 minutes or needs their parent during the service, the parent is paged by the nursery staff. The pager system allows the parent to be quietly summoned without reducing the staff-to-child ratio.
Parents are asked to complete an information sheet for each child coming into the nursery in order to get to know the child's likes/dislikes better and to know of any special needs (ie. allergies).
