Spotlight
on Small Groups
Mothers of Babes and Beyond (MOBB)
is a fellowship opportunity at FPC
meant to attract mothers of children of all ages. This active group of
mothers continually try to nurture each other by sharing in the daily
challenges and blessings of motherhood as well as providing goods and
services to the church and community. This vital group invests time in
outreach to others in several ways: by helping to staff Sunday School
needs, by taking an active leadership role in some of the congregational
fellowship events, by providing meals to church families with new babies
as well as by providing birthday treats for some of the Edison School
classrooms. Their most cherished event is the monthly “Moms Only”
potluck on the 2nd Thursday, 7:30pm in the various members' homes. At
all times, MOBBs welcome new mothers, “old” mothers, and expectant
mothers. Interested? Please contact: Sharon Longman telephone 323-0414.

Dads of Babes and Beyond (DOBB) was formed as a
small group in March of 2007. The goals of the group are to create
fellowship opportunities for Dads of all ages and to be positive role
models. Our children range in age but we all share the common goal of
raising them in a loving Christian environment. We started out with a group
of 10 and we are always looking for new men to join out group.
In 2007, we helped with the development of both the Vacation Bible School
and the family Christmas Eve Service sets (special thanks to Michael
Pessetti for his carpentry leadership). We also helped coordinate the church
Golf Outing and the “Trick or Treat” for UNICEF campaign that generated over
$200. The group had a lot of fun developing the Haunted House and scaring
unsuspecting visitors at the Church Halloween party. Our first foray into
Church competition occurred during the Chili cook-off where we were somewhat
disappointed in our final placement; however, a good time was had by all.
Mike Hammond won the inaugural DOBB fantasy football league which turned out
to be an avenue that kept the group in fairly constant communication.
The 2007 DOBB participants include: Ben Brown, Rob Case, Mike Hammond, Bobby
Highhouse, Doug Jonas, Dave Lewis, Mark Longman, Mike Millar, Michael
Pessetti and Kevin Shaffer. The group is growing and if you are interested
in finding out more about DOBB call our “President”, Ben Brown at 323-8510.

Heart to Hand Paper Crafters,
a newly formed fellowship group, has a dual purpose: to share fun and
fellowship and to provide hand crafted paper items for church use. The
crafters make cards for the deacons to share with their parishioners; cards
for the leadership team of the Sunday school rotation, and other needs that
arise. The crafters also spend time doing personal paper crafting. On many
Sundays, a display of their work can be found in the Gathering Place, and we
encourage folk to take the items for personal use and leave a donation
(which will allow the group to purchase supplies to continue their
endeavors). Heart to Hands Paper Crafters meet regularly on the first
Wednesday of each month at 9:00 a.m. in room 128. Additionally, the group
often gathers on Sunday and Monday evenings from 7:00-8:30. Please feel free
to join us. Questions? Please call Gayle Sparks (373-6123).
