Property Maintenance Committee

The meeting of the Property Maintenance Committee conv= ened at 4:05PM by Moderator Bill Sorensen.

Old Busine= ss:

Discussed briefly 2008 Budget specifically related to Elevator Maintenance. This it= em is budgeted at $4,400.00. Includ= es service, parts, labor and state mandated testing procedures.

Wally̵= 7;s World:

Work continues on the following priorities:

Hanging picture rails in Youth Lounge’s, Game Room and Boy Scout room.
The Kitchen Committee has requested installation of shelves over the prep. Sink, next to the coffee make and by the kitchen telephone. Shelves have been purchased a= nd will be installed.
Pastor Bill has requested windows be installed in the Youth Lounge and Game R= oom doors. Window kits have = been purchased and installation will proceed in early December.
We have established the double door room adjacent to the Youth Lounge as our workshop site. Over a pe= riod of time this room will be equipped with tools and accessories used in = the work of Wally’s Crew.

New Busine= ss:

The committee reviewed the following priorities:

Jim Weeldreyer provided information related to an energy conservation prog= ram used by Mattawan Schools.
The savings from such simple matters as turning off lights and computers c= an be significant.
HVAC systems installed at the time of the renovation are high efficiency and are computer monitored and controlled as designed.
Lighting in north and south entrances is on a timer to be on between 5 and 10PM each day.
Lighting in sanctuary and gathering place while not on a timer is to be off unl= ess spaces being used. Sanctuary li= ghting will be turned off shortly after Sunday services.
Energy usage will be monitored closely.
The committee on a walk through the sanctuary identified 4 areas where pews could be shortened to provide “parking” for wheelchairs and walkers. The Moderator w= ill contact 2-3 wood craftsmen for cost estimates associated with this project.
Before any changes are made the matter will be brought to Session for review = and approval.
There remain several issues related to lighting, cracked dry wall and concre= te from the renovation that The Moderator is working closely with Miller Davis and Mike Noteboom to resolve.

There being no further business to come before the Pro= perty Maintenance Committee, we adjourned at 5:15PM.
